INDEPENDENT STUDY – DIGITAL MUSIC MARKETING
Written over a period of eight months, this independent study focuses on digital marketing specific to the Canadian music industry. Within the pages of the study, you will find interviews with Eric Alper, a prominent Canadian music correspondent, along with other music industry professionals.
Additionally, findings and discussions center on subjects like big data, APIs, playlist marketing, analytics, algorithms, social media management tools, AI, and digital advertising.

INTERNSHIP – CANADIAN MUSICAL REPRODUCTION RIGHTS AGENCY
The Canadian Musical Reproduction Agency (CMRRA) is a music licensing collective representing music rightsholders who range in size from large multinational music publishers to individual songwriters. Together, they own or administer the vast majority of songs recorded, sold and broadcast in Canada. On their behalf, CMRRA issues licenses to individuals or organizations for the reproduction of songs on various media, as described below. Licensees pay royalties to CMRRA which we, in turn, distribute to our rightsholder clients. – CMRRA
As an intern, my duties included organizing and filing client statements, transferring and processing license requests to the new data system, and working diligently on projects assigned by the supervisor.
INTERNSHIP – FLYING COLOURS
Flying Colours Music is an artist and labels services company in the GTA. They help developing artists with marketing, promotion, and distribution. – FLYING COLOURS
As an intern, my roles primarily included playlisting tracks to prominent Spotify playlists. This entailed submitting tracks through various methods (submission sites, email, etc.), keeping track of all data, and compiling a list of accepting curators with all the relevant details.
