Stretch Your Content and Fill The Gaps in Your Calendar

by | May 5, 2021

You’re a creative so you constantly have ideas flowing throw your mind, but you manage multiple accounts so sometimes concepts and plans get forgotten or buried in all the lists and folders. So how do you ensure you’re covering all your bases and sharing all the content you possibly could without any gaps in the content calendar? One option is to stretch and reuse your existing content.

When drafting new content I usually like to think about all the different locations I can reuse and reformat the same piece of information. For example, Mother’s Day is coming up so you want to make a social media post, but why not make it a blog post? And a section in your next newsletter too?!

For my own workflow, I like to start with the blog post and extract snippets of information that can be used on other platforms. A decent length blog post can provide several social media posts, a newsletter intro, and more depending on the product or service your offer. The types of content that can stem from a written piece are (nearly) endless. Here’s our shortlist of content types, along with a handy chart to get your creative juices flowing. Keep in mind these are just types of content and content ideas are another thing.

  • Content Types:
  • – Blog Post/Article
  • – Social Media Post
  • – Social Media Story
  • – Podcasts
  • – Newsletter
  • – White Papers
  • – Video
  • – Webinars
  • – Infographics

YOU CAN DO IT TOO

To get you going with your own content stretching strategy started, I suggest making a list of all the types of content you can make that would align with your brand. You also want to note that some social media platforms, such as Instagram like to prioritize specific content types like video and stories. This is aside from the metrics they deem most important.

I hope this post helps you with your own workflow and you now have more content than you did before.
